My name is Nikkita McCutcheon, Dip. Infant Massage and I am a qualified Baby / Infant Massage and Yoga Instructor. I am based in Midsomer Norton, Somerset and have two children, Kane and Joscelin. Both of my children have experienced baby massage from an early age and it has been very beneficial.
Joscelin suffered with terrible colic right from birth as many children do and using specific strokes we use in Baby Massage, it really helped settle her and remove some of the trapped wind. Although Joscelin is now 10, I still use baby massage strokes to help her when she has a blocked nose or is congested. She also enjoys having her back massaged when she comes home from school or before bed which helps her sleep. My son Kane is now 7 but suffered from silent reflux from birth. This led to many sleepless nights! In addition to this he really suffered when he cut his teeth. I regularly used baby massage to ease the pain and to also settle him and relax him so he gets a better nights sleep. I still use massage with both of my children, especially if they are overtired.
Family is very important to me and I have always loved working with children and really enjoyed attending Baby Massage Classes with both of my children. I realised that this was an area I really wanted to become involved in, by teaching baby and infant massage to other parents and thus Patta Cake Baby Massage was born!
In 2014 I decided to train and qualified as a Baby Yoga Instructor after discovering the many benefits of Baby Yoga to both parent and baby and receiving lots of interest from past parents who had attended my baby massage courses. Baby Yoga seemed a natural add on to my baby massage business and although some of the benefits mirror baby massage, Baby Yoga also has many benefits most of us would never have thought about. My classes are designed to give parents gentle stretches too and It is a wonderful way for parent and baby to bond and at the same time able to take part in a class together.
After lots of parents asking if I could do any classes for older babies/toddlers, in 2016 I decided to train to offer fun Learn, Stretch and Play - Massage, Music and Movement Classes. The classes were a huge success and so popular I had to run 2 classes to accommodate everyone! I am delighted to be able to offer these classes in Shepton Mallet and it has meant I have been able to keep my parents and babies a little bit longer - most of whom who have been coming to my classes since their babies were 8 weeks old!
I hope that I can share my knowledge and experience and help other parents learn the many benefits of Baby Massage and Baby Yoga.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
